Dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters shut down a major freeway in downtown Los Angeles on December 13 as they called for a ceasefire in Gaza.The protesters descended on the freeway at around 9am local time, getting out of their cars and walking across the southbound lanes, according to media reports. They sat down and formed a human chain, shutting down the freeway for about an hour.Aerial footage showed traffic on the southbound lane of the freeway backed up for miles.Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has killed more than 18,500 Palestinians, displaced almost two million people and destroyed most of the coastal enclave.Israel’s Gaza assault came after Hamas killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, in a surprise Oct. 7 attack.
