US-based Semafor website reported that Washington is contemplating launching direct attacks against the Houthis in Yemen. The direct attacks are in response to increased raids on commercial shipping vessels in the Red Sea. Yemen’s Houthi rebels have warned Israel, the US and other Western allies that any hostile move against the country will have dire consequences. The Iran-aligned Houthis have escalated maritime tensions by launching near-daily attacks on vital waterways to pressure Israel in its war against Hamas.
