The health ministry in the Gaza Strip said at least 19,667 people had been killed in the Israel-Hamas war in the Palestinian territory since October 7. The director of Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabalia revealed in a Shin Bet interrogation that his hospital was turned into a military facility. Hospital director Ahmed Kahlot said the facility was under Hamas’s control and at one point housed a kidnapped soldier. Israeli President Isaac Herzog told a group of ambassadors from 80 countries that Israel is prepared for a second pause in the fighting. However, Hamas rejected holding negotiations over exchanging prisoners but is open to any initiative to end it, said a senior Hamas official. Yair Lapid issued another stinging rebuke of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an interview with German newspaper Bild. “There were many failures on the part of our state before the Hamas attack,” Lapid, who leads Israel’s centrist Yesh Atid party, told the paper.
