According to the Israel Defense Forces, Hamas still is holding nearly 138 hostages after the first round of hostage exchange. While “intense talks” are reportedly on in Egypt for a fresh round of hostage releases, it’s unlikely that any IDF soldiers will be among those released. The last time an Israeli soldier was freed from Hamas captivity, it was in return for over 1000 Palestinians being freed by Israel.
