The US said on December 26 that it had shot down 12 attack drones and five missiles over the Red Sea launched by the Iran-backed Houthis. These included 12 one-way attack drones, three anti-ship ballistic missiles and two land-attack cruise missiles. The attack is part of the ongoing assault by the Yemen-based group against Israel in support of Hamas’s war in Gaza. Explosive drones that are being used in the Red Sea attacks have become a challenge to advanced militaries around the world.
