At least 22,600 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, the Palestinian Ministry of Health says. In a statement, the ministry says it had recorded 162 deaths over the past 24 hours. The Qassam Brigades said its fighters detonated a minefield targeting Israeli soldiers in Khuza’a, east of Khan Younis. The Palestinian government has indicated it is not open to a post-war plan for Gaza outlined by Israel’s defence minister. Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah has warned Israel it will respond swiftly “on the battlefield” to the killing of Hamas’s deputy leader.
