Germany has approved the sale of missiles to Saudi Arabia, ending a 5-year blockade on direct arms exports to the Gulf nation. The Scholz government confirmed that Berlin had given the green light for the delivery of 150 Iris-T air-to-air missiles to Riyadh. Berlin seems to be reversing its policy to reward Riyadh for its recent support for Israel while praising the Kingdom’s “constructive approach” in the war. Berlin recently also agreed to allow the export of Eurofighter jets to Saudi Arabia, that are used by the Kingdom’s military to down Houthi missiles.
