Drone footage filmed on January 10 showed smoke billowing over a supermarket and shopping mall in Papua New Guinea, as authorities struggled to maintain order following widespread unrest.A police and public sector protest on Wednesday over a pay cut that officials blamed on an administrative glitch descended into lawlessness over the day, with other footage on social media showing thousands in the streets of Port Moresby, many carrying what appeared to be looted merchandise.Fifteen people were killed in widespread looting and arson in Papua New Guinea, Australian state broadcaster ABC reported on January 11, as the South Pacific country’s prime minister James Marape appealed for calm.Reuters verified the footage by matching the buildings, road layout of the area and location of the blaze, with corroborating footage as well as file and satellite images.
