The IDF has deployed an elite unit fighting in Gaza to the occupied West Bank amid fears of a potential escalation there. According to defense officials quoted by the Haaretz newspaper, the West Bank is “on the brink of an implosion”. They attribute this to government’s failure to make decisions that would improve Palestinian’s financial situations in the West Bank. The army views the Duvdevan unit’s departure as the loss of a very significant force in Gaza but also necessary due to the situation in the West Bank.
