A fire broke out at a Baltic Sea terminal belonging to Novatek, Russia’s largest liquefied natural gas producer on January 21. On 20 January, Russian forces advanced along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna axis and captured the village of Krokhmalne, as per the ISW. British Intelligence claimed poor training and coordination of Russian troops on the east bank of the Dnipro River limited their offensive capabilities in KhersoN. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly planning to visit North Korea in the near future. Ukrainian President Zelensky said he is worried at the prospect of Donald Trump returning to the White House. Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko issued a veiled nuclear threat as he boasted about receiving missile systems from Russia. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico promised he would block Ukraine’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).
