Hostage Standoff in Turkey Linked to Gaza, Houthi Strike Hits Vessel, “UNRWA Is Hamas With Facelift”

An armed assailant took a number of hostages at a plant owned by the US consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) near Istanbul. The assailant appeared to be acting in protest at US support for Israel’s military assault in Gaza, Turkey’s DHA news agency reported. An explosion has been reported off a vessel’s starboard side west of Hodeidah, with the vessel and crew safe. The explosion was reported by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, Reuters reported. The US is reportedly “pushing for a ceasefire deal that could stop the war in Gaza”.
