A Russian missile strike destroyed a hotel in the Kharkiv region, killing a two-month-old baby and injuring three women, Ukrainian officials said. Ukrainian troops abandoned a large fortification near Donetsk, the aide to the Moscow-installed head of Donetsk told TASS news agency. Russia-appointed authorities in the occupied Luhansk region said a high-ranking minister was killed in a Ukrainian blast that left a total of 28 people dead. Russia detained three of its citizens on suspicion of attempting to assassinate a high-ranking Crimean official with a car bomb. Vitaliy Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, has criticised the possibility that Zelensky may fire the Ukrainian army’s commander-in chief Gen Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. Meanwhile, former US president Donald Trump has urged Republicans to reject a $118 billion bipartisan border deal that includes aid for Ukraine and Israel.
