Seoul’s “Unacceptable” Financing Offer Puts Poland-South Korea Arms Deal Worth Billions In Limbo

A major arms sales deal between Poland and South Korea is on the rocks amid questions by Warsaw about financing. Poland is now debating whether to proceed with the acquisition of billions of dollars worth of additional South Korean military hardware. Polish Deputy PM and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz criticised Seoul’s financial terms for further deliveries as unfavourable. Poland is in the midst of its largest rearmament programme since the Cold War, with Warsaw spending 3.1% of its GDP on defence in 2024. Poland turned to South Korea for its rearmament in 2022 due to their quality and compatibility with NATO systems. Poland’s previous government of the right-wing Law and Justice party had inked several deals to buy South Korean weapons worth billions of dollars. Watch the video to find out more.
