The Israeli army said it attacked a Syrian army position in response to shelling from Syrian territory towards the Golan Heights. The Israeli military said the Syrian attack “did not cross into the Israeli territory”. The Israeli forces claimed striking the source of the shelling with artillery fire and fighter jets, hitting a munitions warehouse across the border. An Israeli air strike hit two houses in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, killing 10 people and wounding several others. Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh said the Palestinian group will not accept anything less than a “complete cessation of the aggression”.
