Australia Says No Role For China In Pacific Policing As Marcos Vows “Phillipines Now On Frontline”

Australia has said there should be “no role” for China in policing the Pacific Islands. Australia’s Pacific Minister Pat Conroy promised to train more local security forces after it emerged that Chinese police were working in Kiribati. The US also cautioned Pacific Island nations against assistance from Chinese security forces which “risks fueling regional and international tensions”. Meanwhile, the Philippine President told Australia’s parliament that he would not allow any foreign power to take “one square inch” of the country’s territory. Marcos’ Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese hailed the Philippines as a “strategic partner” on February 29. This comes as Australia has invited Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi for a visit in late March. Watch the video to find out more.
