Germany has addressed the recent interception of a military call on Ukraine by Russia, stating that the participant had dialled in via a non-secure line. Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said that their communications systems had not been compromised. Pistorius presented the initial findings of an investigation into the leak, suggesting that Russia likely intercepted the call via widespread surveillance. Calling it a serious mistake, Pistorius said that the secrets discussed in the call were “manageable”. The 38-minute recording was published by Margarita Simonyan, chief editor of the Russian state-funded television channel RT last week. In the audio, the head of Germany’s air force, Ingo Gerhartz, can be heard discussing deployment scenarios for Taurus missiles in Ukraine. Watch this video to know more.
