India said it had busted a “major human trafficking network” which lured young men to Russia with the promise of jobs. However, the traffickers would then force them to fight in Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, said India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Operating as an organised network, these traffickers lured Indian nationals through social media platforms such as YouTube and local contacts, as per the CBI. About 35 people have been sent to Russia in the scheme so far, said the CBI in a press release on March 7.
