After a 20-month search, Russia has reportedly destroyed the first American-made M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) in Ukraine. A video surfaced online indicating the destruction of one of Kyiv’s 39 HIMARS in a Russian ballistic missile strike near Nykanorivka. The location is about 48 kilometres west of the current front in eastern Donetsk Oblast and is equidistant from the captured cities of Avdiivka and Bakhmut. Despite Russia’s claims of destroying multiple platforms and a recent near miss damaging two HIMARS, the new video confirms the first actual loss.
