Dispute over sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine is creating a divide in the German ruling coalition led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Scholz, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), has ruled out the delivery at least for now, saying that the missiles’ range is too long. He also claimed delivery of the missile could directly or indirectly draw Germany into the war. Scholz was categorical in his latest comment on sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine: it will not happen, “neither directly nor indirectly.” German Foreign Minister and Green Party leader Annalena Baerbock said she was open to the “option” tabled by her British counterpart.
