China slammed the US after the House of Representatives passed a landmark bill that could see TikTok banned across America. China blasted Washington for the legislation, arguing that “the US has never found any evidence of TikTok posing a threat to national security”. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said the decision follows “entirely the logic of a bandit”. If the bill is passed, it would give TikTok’s Chinese owner ByteDance about six months to sell its controlling stake or the app would be blocked in the US. Meanwhile, Former US President Donald Trump defended TikTok in the US, saying “there are a lot of young kids on TikTok who will go crazy without it”. Trump has changed his tune on TikTok, the popular short-video app he once sought to ban over concerns about its Chinese ownership.
