Taiwan warned off Chinese coast guard ships that entered its restricted waters near its islands close to China for a second day in a row on March 16. Footage showed a Taiwan coast guard boat tracking the movement of two Chinese ships in the near distance. Taiwan’s coast guard said four Chinese coast guard entered the restricted waters of Taiwan-controlled Kinmen islands, which hug the Chinese coast. “The move has seriously impacted traffic and safety. To avoid triggering naval incidents we urge them to stop such behaviours,” said Taiwan’s coast guard. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s defence authority chief Chiu Kuo-cheng confirmed that US special forces personnel are stationed on some of Taiwan’s outlying islands. Watch the video to find out more.
