US Secretary of State reaffirmed “ironclad” commitments to defend Philippines as China said Washington had not role in the region’s security. Blinken’s second visit to Manila since President Marcos took office, is part of a brief Asia tour to reinforce US support for regional allies against China. Blinken’s renewed defence pledge follows recent incidents involving Philippine and Chinese vessels in the South China Sea.
