Putin Meets With Belarusian Participants Of The ISS

Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 12 hosted in Kremlin Russian and Belarusian participants of the ISS 21st visiting expedition, as well as his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.The Roscosmos cosmonaut, Oleg Novitskiy, and spaceflight participant Marina Vasilevskaya from Belarus spent 12 days at the International Space Station and returned to Earth on April 6.Vasilevskaya, who previously served as a flight attendant and a flight instructor for Belavia Airlines in her home country, became the first Belarusian woman to fly into space after being selected by Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, as a member of the visiting expedition.The meeting took place on the International Day of human space flight. On 12 April 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit the Earth.
