After being inundated for two days, Dubai is now clearing its waterlogged roads and drying out flooded homes. The Dubai International Airport is also struggling to clear a backlog of flights while many roads remain flooded in the aftermath of the April 16 deluge. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was inundated with water after storms dumped more than a year and a half’s rain in just a few hours. The rains were the heaviest experienced by the United Arab Emirates in the 75 years that records have been kept. The calamity is unprecedented as rains are rare in the UAE and elsewhere on the Arabian Peninsula, typically known for its dry desert climate.
