The US House of Representatives cleared an aid package of $26.38bn for Israel on April 20. The bill was passed 366-58 with 37 Democrats and 21 Republicans in opposition. Although the bill earmarks funds for humanitarian aid, it prohibits funding for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA). Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US for its “strong bipartisan support.” According to multiple media reports, the US is considering sanctions against Israel’s Netzah Yehuda battalion.
