Pro-China President Muizzu’s Party Wins Maldives Parliament Polls On Back Of “India Out” Rhetoric

Maldives voters backed President Mohamed Muizzu’s tilt towards China as his party registered a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections. According to the Elections Commission of Maldives, Muizzu’s People’s National Congress (PNC) secured more than two thirds of the seats. This is enough for a super-majority in the 93-member parliament as it tries to move from traditional benefactor IndiaThe main opposition MDP, which previously had a super-majority of its own, won just a dozen seats.
