Swiss-French artist, SAYPE has used eco-friendly paint to create a giant fresco meant to draw attention to the plight of migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea and those trying to rescue them. The painting shows a little girl tilting a lighthouse illuminated with real lamps next to a painted paper boat on a map of the Mediterranean. Nearby, a real inflatable boat with a group of stuffed dolls huddled together can be seen floating.SAYPE told Reuters on Sunday (May 12) that he wanted to pay tribute to the French charity SOS Mediterranee which rescues refugees and migrants crossing from Africa to Europe. The fresco made of natural, washable materials is the size of several Olympic swimming pools and can only be seen with a bird’s eye view.
