The expiry of Ukrainian President Zelensky’s presidential term has stirred a debate around his legitimacy and grip on power in the country. A former Ukrainian PM echoed Russian President Putin, claiming Zelensky has lost “legitimacy” as president after his term expired on May 20. Ex-Ukrainian PM Nikolay Azarov accused Zelensky of attempts to hold on to power, calling him an “impostor”. Azarov claims Zelensky’s unwillingness to hold elections stems from his legitimate fear that he would have lost miserably. According to the ex-Ukrainian prime minister, the West is aware of Zelensky’s legitimacy debacle in Ukraine.
