The US faces a pivotal decision on whether to deploy nuclear-armed cruise missiles on submarines. The move could reshape its deterrence strategy amid rising tensions with China and Russia. In May, USNI News reported that the US is considering the deployment of SLCM-N* from modified Virginia-class nuclear submarines (SSN). The US would be introducing the SLCM-N as its first new nuclear weapon since the end of the Cold War.
