India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his allies are headed for a third straight term in office. Modi’s BJP-led National Democratic Alliance secured a narrow majority in the country’s general election on June 4. However, the victory came after reduced parliamentary majority as the opposition surpassed exit poll predictions. TV channels figures showed the BJP and its allies winning 292 seats out of a total of 543. Meanwhile, the opposition’s INDIA alliance won 233 seats out of the total of 543.
