The United States military reportedly ran a secret anti-vax programme during the Covid-19 crisis to discredit China’s Sinovac vaccine. The Pentagon launched a covert campaign to “sow doubt about the safety and efficacy of vaccines” being supplied by China. The report, released by Reuters on June 14, said the campaign targeted the Philippines in a bid to counter China’s influence. The US military’s anti-vax effort began in the spring of 2020 and expanded beyond Southeast Asia before it was terminated in 2021, as per Reuters. The report suggests that US officials cast doubt on the safety of vaccines abroad while frantically rolling out vaccines in the United States.
