US Wary Of “Greater War” But Israel “Approves” Offensive To Hit Lebanon “Hard” & “Destroy” Hezbollah

On June 18, Lebanon’s Iran-backed group Hezbollah published a video of its reconnaissance drones flying over northern Israel, including the Haifa port. It was unclear when the roughly 10 minutes of footage released by Hezbollah were captured, and the IDF did not immediately comment on the video. IDF jets bombed several Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on June 18. The IDF also announced it had “successfully intercepted a suspicious aerial target in the coastal area of Gesher HaZiv.” On June 18, the Israeli army said plans for an offensive in Lebanon were “approved and validated.” US envoy Amos Hochstein, on a visit to Lebanon, called for an “urgent” de-escalation of the cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israel.
