The Colombian Navy intercepted 2.3 tonnes of cocaine in an internationally coordinated sea operation that resulted in four arrests, authorities reported on June 19.Authorities engaged in a sea chase in Caribbean waters after spotting a boat bound for Central America. To evade capture, the crew threw the packets into the sea, from which 1.6 tonnes of cocaine were retrieved.The four crew members were arrested, three from Nicaragua and one from Costa Rica.In a similar operation coordinated with Panamanian authorities, 700 kilos of cocaine were retrieved from the sea after a high-speed boat chase.The two busts yielded a haul with a market value of over $79 million, according to the authority’s statement.
