A nuclear-powered US aircraft carrier, Theodore Roosevelt, arrived in South Korea days after Russian President Vladimir Putin visited North Korea. The carrier, which reached the Busan naval base on June 22, is expected to participate in joint exercises called “Freedom Edge” with Seoul and Japan this month. The South Korean navy said the US vessel’s arrival “demonstrates the strong combined defence posture” of the Seoul-Washington alliance.
