China on June 27 warned Taiwan’s newly elected President Lai Ching-te that he will be “punished by law if he “attempts” to “split” the nation. The warning from the Chinese defence ministry came in response to the United States’ alleged plan to “deploy” weapons in the Taiwan Strait. According to a report by The Washington Post, the US is working on a strategy called “Hellscape” to “thwart” China’s attempt to “invade” Taiwan.
