Taiwan’s economy minister confirmed that components in pagers detonated in Lebanon were not made in Taiwan. The Taiwanese company Gold Apollo stated it did not manufacture these devices, which were produced by Budapest-based BAC. Taiwan’s government is investigating, and police have questioned company officials. The explosion on September 17 killed nine and injured nearly 3,000, with sources claiming explosives were planted by Israel’s Mossad. Hezbollah has vowed retaliation against Israel, amid ongoing cross-border tensions since last October’s Gaza conflict.
