Following the killing of a top Hezbollah commander in a Beirut airstrike, Herzog emphasized Israel’s obligation to secure its northern border while stating the country does not seek full-scale war with Lebanon. On September 22, Israeli warplanes conducted intense bombardments in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah responded by firing rockets into northern Israel.
