Israel’s security cabinet is expected to approve PM Netanyahu’s Gaza occupation plan when it convenes on the evening of August 7 local time. The phased plan will be executed over five months and is expected to involve around five IDF divisions, as per Israeli media reports. The plan will lead to further forced displacement of around 1 million Palestinians living in Gaza City. Netanyahu’s plan is reportedly aimed at destroying what remains of the Hamas and pressuring it to free the 50 hostages it is still holding.Notably, top military officials have warned Netanyahu that the plan would endanger the lives of hostages being held in those areas. However, despite the opposition to the plan, reports said that Netanyahu would likely secure a majority within the high-level security cabinet to support the plan. n18oc_world n18oc_crux0:00 INTRODUCTION2:00 WHAT DOES ISRAEL’S MULTI-PHASED GAZA OCCUPATION PLAN ENTAIL?4:35 NETANYAHU SLAMMED FOR INFLICTING “LASTING DAMAGE TO ISRAEL”7:28 RUBIO: NOT ENOUGH ATTENTION PAID TO ISRAELI HOSTAGES8:42 HAMAS PAID MILLIONS IN SALARIES DESPITE WAR: REPORT
